There hasn’t been a ton of activity on the site lately because for the past several months I’ve been living in a country with really slow Internet. Because of that I’ve been using my spare time to make an origami book since that’s all off-line work.

I’ve posted a little bit about the book’s status on social media and I’m pleased to announce that it’s almost finished!

I’m editing the book now and after that all I need to do is finish up the cover.

The book is aimed for complete origami beginners who want to learn origami but might have found it intimidating.

The first section of the book goes through all the basic folds and bases. Each technique builds on the last one and if you work through that section you’ll have a very good grasp of all the basics.

The rest of the book has diagrams for 76 traditional origami models and 1 that it turns out was designed by Paolo Bascetta.

I need to give a huge thanks to Paolo Bascetta for giving permission to include his Masu Box Divider in the book and for helping me out with the diagrams too!

The diagrams are incredibly detailed and show one step at a time so there’s no confusion. There’s no parts that ask you to repeat steps on the other side or anything like that.

The models are sorted into 5 different categories based on difficulty. They’re also arranged by techniques as well. As you work through the book you’ll find a section with several models based on the Fish Base for example.

Everything will get progressively more difficult as you work through the book and build on what you’ve learned previously.

Here’s a random sample of some of the pages from the book to give you an idea what to expect.

Here’s a preview of the cover artwork by the very talented Brenda Saydak over at Bliss and Kittens.

The book will be available first as a paperback and an eBook version will be coming soon too. The eBook will be available as soon as I figure out the best way to make that.

I’ll be announcing when the book is available to my email list first. There might also be some launch bonuses for the people on my list as well so be sure to sign up if you haven’t already at the bottom of the page!

Finally, here’s a preview of all 77 models that are diagrammed in the book.

As I mentioned before this is a book for beginners so if you have no problems folding the traditional origami frog (the most difficult model in this book) then this book isn’t for you.
