You Should Definitely Give a Carp about these Beautiful Origami Koi

I've always been a fan of origami koi. There are only a few major koi designs but they're always great and the koi people fold are always really beautiful. Often people use really great paper or make collections of rainbow coloured koi and do lots of other neat things with them.

Our first image is this beautiful collection of rainbow koi.

I Asped When I Saw These Incredible Origami Snakes

There's a pretty wide array of origami snakes out there. I didn't think there would be so much since origami is usually folded from a square sheet of paper and snakes are so long but surprisingly enough there's some amazing origami snake designs out there.

A lot of them are folded from a giant rectangle of paper though, but that's ok.

We'll start this post out with this awesome Blunt Nosed Vinesnake.

Lizard

Iguana Fold these 28 Awesome Origami Lizards

There are a lot of really awesome origami lizards out there including one of my all time favourite origami models, Gen Hagiwara's Frilled Neck Lizard. Hopefully one day I'll be able to fold it.

This post is a collection of the best origami lizards (not including snakes, that'll be another post) that I've seen.

You'll also notice that you can now click on any of these images and a larger version of the image will open in a lightbox. I'm pretty excited about that and going forward all posts will be like this.

We'll start off with this awesome origami chameleon by Karol Kafarski. Since chameleons can change their colour to blend in you could use any colour origami paper that you want when you fold one.

We've barely scratched the service when it comes to origami birds so you can definitely count on many more bird themed posts in the future.

Some of these birds aren't too difficult to fold so if you give them a try post a photo in the comments so we can take a look.

If you enjoyed this post please consider supporting our Patreon or you can help by sharing this post everywhere you can on the Internet. That's a huge help as well.

Crab

26 Great Origami Models for When You're Feeling a Bit Crabby

I've always thought origami crabs looked pretty cool. With their multiple legs, arms and claws they always look very impressive and difficult to fold although that's not always the case which is awesome.

This post will focus completely on different kinds of origami crabs because believe it or not there actually a ton of different origami crab designs for folding all sorts of different kinds of crab species.

First up is this excellent and realistic looking fiddler crab.

Now here's a very different style crab. There are a lot of different origami hermit crabs and just like in real life depending on who designed the model they have all kinds of different shapes for their shells. Everything with this crab including the shell is folded from one square of paper.

This is an absolutely amazing hermit crab design by Satoshi Kamiya. The whole model is folded from one sheet of paper and if you use double sided paper you end up with a different coloured crab and shell which looks amazing.

This is another hermit crab that's very different from the other ones in this post with that spiral shell. The entire model is folded from one sheet of paper. This one uses a 32cm x 32cm square of paper. Unfortunately this particular model was shown at an exhibition and was most likely stolen by someone which really sucks.

African Hippo

Origami Safari: 26 Beautiful African Animals Made Out of Paper

Animals are probably the most common thing that people fold out of paper.

Rather than just making posts featuring random origami animals I'm going to try to group them together into themes. This post will focus on African animals such as elephants, lions, giraffes and more.

There's a lot of awesome looking origami here so lets begin with some origami rhinos.

We'll start with this fantastic rhino posing on a blog of wood.

This might be my favourite origami gorilla. It's a very simple design but the shapes and curves really give it a lot of character.

This is a great zebra design that doesn't work at all unless you use black and white paper. It's very impressive how the two sides of the paper are used to make stripes.

This pangolin model by Eric Joisel is a great looking origami model. The entire model including every one of the scales is folded from a single square sheet of paper.

This last pangolin took an incredible 60 hours to fold the pre-creases and then another 45 hours to assemble the completed model. Andrey Ermakov took a month and a half to fold it out of a 1.2m x 1.2m square of paper to fold this spectacular looking model.

A lot of origami artists have folded different origami monkeys and here are some of the best ones I've seen starting with this monkey photographed in the wild by Folded Wilderness.
