Fumiaki Shingu was born in 1953 in Ōmuta city, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
After graduating from a design college he moved to Tokyo, and in 1984 founded the design-company CITY PLAN Co., Ltd., initially working in graphic design.
In 1998 he began developing an origami-centred series, branded “JOYD”, which eventually led to creation of the website Origami Club in 2002.
As an origami artist and designer he combines his background in design with paper-folding to offer accessible models and instructional works, promoting origami as part of Japanese traditional culture and international craft.
He now contributes diagrams, goods, and has published several books targeting beginner to intermediate folders.
At Origami.me, our mission is simple: to make origami inspiring, accessible, and supportive for everyone involved.
