Tips for Christmas Origami
Pick your paper
Red, green and gold carry the season on their own, and foil paper makes the Stars shine on a tree. White or silver suits the Snowflake, green the Christmas Tree. Most models here take a single 6 x 6 in (15 x 15 cm) square; a smaller square makes a lighter ornament.
Decorate with them
Thread a loop of fine string through a Star, a Snowflake or the Angel and it hangs on the tree as an ornament. A Christmas Tree glued on the front of a folded card makes a quick greeting, and a gift card or a little money slipped into an Envelope is a present that is easy to wrap.
Fold with kids
The Christmas Tree, the Santa and the Angel are Very Easy and take about five minutes each, so a small group can fold a whole set of ornaments in one sitting. The 5-Pointed Star is Very Easy too and takes a little longer. The Snowflake and the 6-Pointed Star are a good next step once those feel comfortable.

Can I use printer paper instead of origami paper?
Yes. Cut it into a square first, and expect slightly softer creases than with origami paper, which is thinner and holds a fold better. Colored copy paper works well for the simpler models here. You can also paint plain printer paper with acrylics: it adds color and makes the sheet stronger once folded.
How do I make a bigger decoration?
Use a bigger square. The finished model grows with the paper, so a 10 in (25 cm) sheet gives you a model close to twice the size of one folded from 6 in (15 cm).
