Mitsuo Okuda (奥田光雄) was a Japanese origami designer and author whose work appeared in books and magazines from the 1970s through the 1990s. He created a wide variety of models, ranging from animals and birds to flowers and practical designs, with many aimed at beginners and recreational folders.
Okuda published several origami books in Japan, including Bird Origami (鳥の折り紙) and Origami for Enjoyment in English (英語で楽しむ折り紙). His designs were also featured in Monthly Origami, one of Japan’s best-known origami magazines.
Although little has been published about his personal life, his models remain popular today for their simplicity, clear structure, and approachable folding sequences. Many continue to be taught and shared by origami enthusiasts around the world, introducing new generations of folders to his work.
