These Terms of Use apply to the Origami.me Educator Library (“Library”), operated by Kuma Lab LLC / Origami.me (“Origami.me”, “we”, “us”).
By purchasing or using access to the Library, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms supplement our general Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy, which continue to apply to your use of Origami.me generally, including eligibility and minimum age. Where those documents conflict with these Terms in relation to the Library, these Terms take precedence.
1. What you are purchasing
Your purchase gives you a license to access and use the Educator Library and its resources according to the license level you selected at checkout.
The Library currently includes printable origami instructions and related educational resources. New resources may be added over time.
Your purchase does not transfer ownership or copyright in any of the models, diagrams, illustrations, photographs, videos, or other materials.
2. Lifetime access
Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, access to the Educator Library is provided on a lifetime-access basis for a one-time payment.
For these Terms, “lifetime access” means access for as long as Origami.me continues to operate and maintain the Educator Library.
There is no recurring subscription fee.
New models and resources added to the standard Educator Library after your purchase are included in your access unless they are clearly offered as a separate product or service.
3. Individual Educator License
An Individual Educator License is for one person only.
You may:
- access and download the Library resources for your own use;
- print the resources as many times as reasonably needed for the students or groups you personally teach or lead;
- use them in classrooms, libraries, museums, homeschool activities, holiday clubs, nonprofit activities, and similar educational or group settings;
- keep and reuse your downloaded materials for future sessions;
- adapt how you teach or present the activity to suit your group.
You do not need to ask Origami.me for permission each time you use a resource within these terms.
You may not:
- give, email, transfer, or otherwise share the digital PDF files with colleagues or other educators;
- upload the files to a shared drive, learning platform, website, intranet, or other location where other people can download them;
- resell the PDFs or any substantially reproduced version of them;
- make the Library files publicly available;
- remove copyright, designer, diagrammer, or Origami.me attribution;
- claim the models, diagrams, or other Library materials as your own.
Printed copies may, of course, be handed out to the students or participants in the activity you are leading.
4. Institutional Licenses
If more than one educator needs access, or if the Library will be used across a school, library, museum, or other organization, an institutional license is required. This section sets out exactly what each institutional license covers.

4.1 Single Location License
A Single Location License covers one school, one library branch, one museum, one community center, one nonprofit site, or one other physical location operated by the purchasing organization.
The license belongs to the institution at that location, not to the individual member of staff who completed the purchase.
All staff and helpers working for that location may use the Educator Library for activities run by that location. This includes teachers, teaching assistants, librarians, museum educators, substitute or supply teachers, student teachers, volunteers, and parent helpers acting on behalf of the institution.
There is no limit on the number of staff members who may use the Library within that one licensed location.
A Single Location License does not cover other branches, campuses, schools, buildings, or separately operated sites belonging to the same organization.
For example:
- one public library branch counts as one location;
- a library system with six branches has six locations;
- one school campus counts as one location;
- two campuses operated by the same school count as two locations;
- a museum and a separately operated satellite site count as two locations.
A school district, library system, museum group, or other organization with several locations should choose the license that covers the number of locations where the Library will be used.
4.2 Up to 5 Locations License
An Up to 5 Locations License covers up to five physical locations operated by the same organization.
Each school, branch, campus, museum site, community center, nonprofit site, or other separately operated physical location counts as one location.
All staff and helpers working at those licensed locations may use the Library in the same way as under a Single Location License.
There is no limit on the number of staff members within those locations.
The five locations do not need to use the Library equally, and the organization does not need to tell us which individual staff members are using it.
If the organization later wants to use the Library at more than five locations, it should contact us to upgrade to a larger organizational license. The existing license remains valid for the locations it already covers until an upgrade is arranged.
4.3 Organizations that do not fit neatly into one building
We use “location” to mean a distinct site from which the organization regularly provides its services or activities.
The license is based on operational locations rather than legal entities or mailing addresses.
For example:
- each branch in a public library system is a separate location;
- each campus in a multi-campus school is a separate location;
- each school within a district is a separate location;
- a museum with a permanent satellite site has two locations;
- several rooms or departments within the same school or building are still one location.
Temporary off-site activities run by staff from a licensed location do not create an additional location. For example, a librarian from a licensed branch may use the materials at an occasional outreach event, school visit, community fair, or similar activity without needing another license.
If an organization has an unusual structure and it is not clear how many locations it has, it can contact us at hello@origami.me and we will help determine the appropriate license.
4.4 Who the license belongs to
An institutional license belongs to the institution or organization named at the time of purchase.
It does not belong personally to the employee who placed the order or whose email address was used at checkout.
If that employee leaves, changes role, or loses access to their work email address, the institution keeps its license.
The institution may contact us at hello@origami.me to change the email address used to access the Library.
The license may not be transferred to a different organization, except where the original institution is formally renamed, reorganized, merged, or succeeded by another organization as described in section 4.8.
4.5 Access for staff
Institutional access is provided using the access method available through the Educator Library.
By default, the institution may use a shared institutional email address or other shared access details for authorized staff at the licensed location or locations.
If preferred, the institution may ask us to add named staff email addresses instead. To arrange named access, email the addresses to hello@origami.me.
The institution is responsible for keeping access within the organization and within the locations covered by its license.
There is no seat limit, device limit, or requirement to report individual users to us.
Access details should not be shared with staff at unlicensed locations or with people outside the organization.
4.6 Downloaded files and internal storage
Staff at licensed locations may download, print, and use the Library resources as often as needed for activities run by those locations.
Digital files may also be stored in an internal system that is only accessible to authorized staff covered by the license, such as:
- a staff-only shared drive;
- a staff intranet;
- an internal resource library;
- another private storage system used by the licensed location or organization.
The files should not be placed somewhere that allows students, parents, members of the public, staff from unlicensed locations, or other third parties to download and keep copies of the PDFs.
This means, for example:
- Yes: storing PDFs in a staff-only Google Drive folder.
- Yes: printing copies and handing them to participants during an activity.
- Yes: displaying a PDF on a screen while teaching.
- No: placing the downloadable PDF on a public website or open shared drive.
- No: attaching the PDF to a public newsletter or mailing it to a general parent list.
- No: uploading the PDF to a student-facing learning platform where students or parents can download and retain the file.
Where a learning platform such as Google Classroom, Seesaw, or a school intranet can restrict a resource so that only authorized staff can access the downloadable file, that staff-only use is permitted.
Educators may still give participants printed copies for the activity they are teaching.
4.7 Use outside the licensed location
Staff from a licensed location may use the materials when running occasional activities away from that location. For example, a school teacher may take the materials on a class trip, or a librarian may run an outreach session elsewhere.
This does not create a new licensed location as long as the activity is being organized and delivered by staff from the licensed location.
A regular program operated from another permanent site, branch, campus, or venue counts as another location.
4.8 Changes to the organization
A license is intended to remain useful even when normal organizational changes happen.
If a licensed institution changes its name, moves to a new building, changes staff, or changes the email address used for access, the license continues without needing to be repurchased.
If two licensed locations are merged into one, the resulting location remains covered.
If one licensed location splits into multiple permanent locations, or if the organization expands beyond the number of locations covered by its license, the organization should upgrade to the appropriate license before using the Library at the additional locations.
If an institution merges with another organization, is acquired, or is reorganized into a larger organization, the existing license continues for the locations it previously covered. It does not automatically expand to every location in the new organization.
If a licensed institution closes permanently without a successor organization, its institutional license ends with that institution and cannot be transferred to an unrelated organization.
4.9 Upgrading an institutional license
An organization may upgrade from a Single Location License to an Up to 5 Locations License, or from either license to a larger organizational license.
Please contact hello@origami.me if you need to upgrade.
When you upgrade, you pay the difference between what you paid for your existing institutional license and the current price of the higher tier. You are not asked to pay for the higher tier again from scratch.
An upgrade does not reduce or interrupt the rights already granted under the original license.
4.10 What lifetime access means for an institution
Institutional licenses are one-time purchases and do not require a recurring subscription.
The licensed institution may continue using the Educator Library for as long as:
- the institution continues to exist, subject to the organizational-change rules in section 4.8;
- it remains within the number of locations covered by its license;
- the license has not ended because of a refund, chargeback, or serious breach of these Terms; and
- Origami.me continues to operate and maintain the Educator Library.
New models and resources added to the standard Educator Library are included in the institution’s access unless they are clearly offered as a separate product or service.
Files validly downloaded while the license was active may continue to be used by the licensed institution under these Terms, except where access has been terminated because of serious misuse such as mass redistribution, or where we are legally required to withdraw a particular resource.
5. Paid workshops and commercial use
The standard Individual Educator License is intended for non-commercial educational and group use.
Covered by your license: using the materials in a session run by a school, library, museum, nonprofit, community center, or similar organization that charges admission, tuition, membership, or a general activity or program fee, where the origami session is part of what that fee already covers.
Not covered by your license:
- charging participants specifically for the origami class, workshop, or course;
- using the materials in a product, publication, paid online course, or other commercial service;
- using the materials as part of a commercial service you provide to another organization.
If you would like to use the materials in a paid or commercial setting, contact hello@origami.me before doing so. We can usually offer a separate license for the intended use.
6. Copyright and designers
Origami models in the Library may be traditional designs or copyrighted works created by individual origami designers.
Where a model has an identified designer, it is included in the Library with permission from the relevant rights holder.
The diagrams, illustrations, photographs, videos, written instructions, and other materials may also be protected by copyright separately from the underlying origami model.
Designer and diagrammer credits must remain intact.
A portion of revenue generated by the Educator Library is shared with participating artists according to Origami.me’s agreements with them.
7. Online tutorials
Many Library models link to tutorials on Origami.me containing additional step-by-step photographs, videos, explanations, or other supporting material.
These tutorials are provided as supplementary help and may be updated, moved, or changed over time.
Access to a particular supplementary video, webpage, or third-party service is not guaranteed indefinitely.
8. Downloads and access links
Access to the Library is associated with the email address used for purchase.
We may use passwordless access links or other authentication methods to verify your purchase.
You are responsible for providing a valid email address, and for making sure access intended for you or your organization is not deliberately shared outside the scope of your license.
If you lose your access email or link, you can request a new one using your purchase email address, or contact hello@origami.me.
9. Refunds and your right to cancel
The Library is digital content that is made available to you immediately after purchase.
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days. For digital content, that right ends once we begin supplying the content, provided you have given your express consent to immediate supply and acknowledged that you lose the right to cancel. Where you have not given that consent, your right to cancel is unaffected.
Where a right to cancel, withdraw, or obtain a refund does apply to you by law, it is unaffected by these Terms.
If a refund is issued, or a payment is reversed or charged back, the license granted to you ends and your access to the Library is withdrawn. Files you downloaded before that point are no longer covered by a license, and you must stop using them and delete them.
Our general Refund Policy also applies. Where it conflicts with this section in relation to the Library, this section takes precedence.
10. Changes to the Library
The Library is a growing resource.
We may:
- add new models and resources;
- update or replace existing files;
- correct errors;
- reorganize categories, filters, or features;
- change the design or technical operation of the Library.
Occasionally, a model may need to be removed, for example because a designer withdraws permission or because of a copyright or licensing issue.
Lifetime access does not guarantee that every individual model available on the day of purchase will remain available forever.
Files that you validly downloaded while they were available may continue to be used under the license granted at the time of download, unless we notify you otherwise because of a legal issue, or your license ends under section 9 or section 13.
11. Paper, folding times, ages, and difficulty
Age recommendations, difficulty levels, folding times, and similar information are provided as guidance only.
Actual folding time and suitability can vary considerably depending on experience, age, group size, paper, teaching style, and other factors.
Educators remain responsible for deciding whether a particular activity is appropriate for their group.
12. Safety and supervision
Origami activities may involve paper cutters, scissors, craft knives, small objects, or other materials depending on how paper is prepared or how a project is used.
You are responsible for appropriate supervision and for choosing tools and materials suitable for the age and abilities of your participants.
13. Misuse of the Library
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe that a license is being deliberately abused, for example through widespread redistribution, resale, unauthorized file sharing, or use substantially outside the license purchased.
Where practical, we will contact you first and give you an opportunity to resolve the issue.
If we terminate your license for a serious breach of these Terms, the license ends in full, including the right to continue using files you downloaded before termination. You must stop using those files and delete them. This is an exception to the continued-use provision in section 10.
Termination for a serious breach does not transfer or remove any copyright or other intellectual-property rights.
14. No guarantee of uninterrupted availability
We aim to keep the Library available and working reliably, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access at all times.
Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, technical problems, hosting issues, updates, or circumstances outside our control.
If you experience an access problem, contact hello@origami.me and we will make reasonable efforts to resolve it.
15. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted under the laws applicable to your purchase.
16. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Origami.me is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the use of the Library.
The Library is provided as an educational resource. Educators remain responsible for how the materials are used, how activities are conducted, and whether individual models are appropriate for their participants.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where doing so would be prohibited by law.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Library, licensing options, or applicable law.
Changes will not retroactively remove the core usage rights that came with a valid lifetime license you already purchased, unless a change is required by law or necessary to address a third-party rights issue.
The latest version of these Terms will be available on Origami.me.
18. Relationship with other terms
These Terms supplement our general Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy. Where those documents conflict with these Terms in relation to the Library, these Terms take precedence.
If your purchase includes a separate written institutional, commercial, or custom license, the terms of that license take precedence where they conflict with these Terms.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you based on where you live.
Any disputes will be handled by the courts or other competent authorities specified under applicable law.
