How to Fold an Easy Origami Angelfish

This traditional origami angelfish is one of the easiest models you can fold. It’s perfect for beginners and kids.

It starts from a simple waterbomb base and takes just a few folds to come to life. In under 5 minutes, you’ll have a cute little fish ready to swim across your desk or join a paper ocean scene.

A great first project for anyone new to origami!

Origami Angelfish Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Difficulty: Easy – Beginner Level 1
  • Folding time: Less than 5 minutes
  • Model designer: Traditional
  • Paper: 15×15 cm (6×6 in) Kami

Step 1

Fold the paper in half side to side, crease well, then unfold. Repeat in the other direction.

Step 2

Turn the paper over.

Step 3

Fold and unfold along both diagonals.

Step 4

Collapse into a Waterbomb base, using the creases you’ve made.

Fold the top flap’s left corner down so it covers about one-third of the bottom edge.

Step 6

Fold the top flap’s right edge to the right.

Step 7

Turn the model over.
