If You Give a Hoot about Origami then Check Out these Owls

There are definitely a ton of different origami birds out there but since starting this site I’ve been surprised to learn that there’s also a very large amount of different origami owl models and some of them are pretty incredible.

This first owl is a pretty simple design but nevertheless it does look pretty fantastic.

Román Díaz is an expert designer of origami animals and his owl design is one of the most famous ones out there.

I really like this simple owl design by Beth Johnson. It reminds me very much of the characters in the videogame Journey.

This great looking owl is designed by Hoàng Tiến Quyết, it makes excellent use of double sided paper and is not too difficult to fold.

Beth Johnson has actually designed several origami owls, here’s a third design by her that incorporates 3D shapes and a tessellation. It’s actually folded from a hexagon shaped piece of paper, not a square.

This last model is easily the most impressive origami owl design I’ve seen. It’s a Blakiston’s Fish Owl (a real owl species) that’s designed by Katsuta Kyohei and folded from a single sheet of paper.
